This plugin changes the HTML content of the post to replace base URL with ImageKit endpoint so that images are loaded via ImageKit. ### I installed the plugin but Google pagespeed insights is still showing image related warnings This plugin automatically optimize the images and serve them in next-gen format including WebP. However, this plugin does not automatically resize the images as per the layout. No, this plugin automatically takes care of that. ### Does this plugin support custom CNAME? Yes, you can email developer@imagekit.io to configure custom CNAME for your account and then specify that in the plugin setting page. ### Can I configure this plugin to use ImageKit for custom upload directories? Yes, you can specify any number of custom directory locations on plugin settings page ### Does ImageKit support all image formats? ImageKit supports all popular image formats that cover 99.99% of the use case. On the settings page, you can further configure if you want to allow or disallow a particular file type to be loaded via ImageKit. ### I installed the plugin, but the ImageKit website analyzer is suggesting more optimization. This is because image dimensions are not as per the layout. We could have done it using Javascript in the frontend like other plugins, but we do not recommend it. The browser triggers the image load as soon as it sees an image URL in HTML and intentionally delaying this while Javascript calculates the ideal width will ultimately slow down the image load for your users. The only shortcoming of the plugin is that it doesn’t replace the image URLs inside the CSS (like background images). Which was a big negative in my opinion. If I consider this plugin like a CDN plugin then both CDN Enabler (by KeyCDN) & W3 Total Cache CDN replaces image URL inside CSS files, inline CSS & internal CSS but for some reason, this plugin does not. It’s easy to get started with and more important for myself, it’s highly configurable. At first I was a bit apprehensive when I saw Imagekit advertise the variety of sites and frameworks they integrate with because that often means that something like this WordPress plugin ends up poorly maintained or with incomplete functionality because resources are spread too thin. But this plugin’s been rock solid since I’ve been using it. No bugs (that I’ve noticed) and it supports all the functionality and customization that the service provides. I suppose one exception is that there’s no way to sync your WordPress media library images with Imagekit’s media library, so I’ve had to handle that myself with their API. The only other thing I’d like to see improved with this plugin is the option to configure settings using constants in wp-config.php.
