Friendly Captcha for WordPress

Friendly Captcha is a privacy-first anti-bot solution that protects WordPress website forms from spam and abuse.

Do you use a captcha like reCAPTCHA to keep out bots? Friendly Captcha is a powerful anti-spam service that blocks spam-bots without annoying captcha images and protects user privacy.

How Friendly Captcha Works

Friendly Captcha is a tool for preventing spam on your website. Other CAPTCHAs are a burden on your users, Friendly Captcha respects your users.

Friendly Captcha is a proof-of-work based anti-bot solution in which the user’s device does all the work. We generate a unique crypto puzzle for each visitor.

Solving it will usually take only a few seconds. As soon as the user starts filling the form it starts getting solved. By the time the user is ready to submit, the puzzle is probably already solved.

Friendly Captcha prevents spam and doesn’t punish real users in doing so.

Kein Hinweis darauf, dass das PlugIn kostenpflichtig ist und eine Api benötigt. Egal, ob das PlugIn gut oder schlecht ist, so etwas geht gar nicht!
After long and intensive research, we can fully recommend this software solution as a data protection consultancy. Friendly Captcha applies the principles of data economy and anonymizes such data that can be considered personal before storing it. The support team was courteous and took detailed time for our review, for which we want to thank them very much.
Based on the description, this plugin looked like it would be a useful plugin, and it was advertised as if it's a free plugin. Upon installing the plugin, I was forced to go to their website to create an account before I could integrate it with my site's Google keys, and it seems like I'd be forced to supply THEM with my site's keys, AND to get any meaningful use, would have to pay a fee. Their documentation here did NOT indicate this would be the case. Deceptive and bad. I don't recommend using this plugin.
From all options to place a captcha on your forms, FriendlyCaptcha seems to be the best alternative out there. Very lightweight, GDPR compliant and easy to set up. Developers are very friendly (pun intended) and have been swift in their responses to my questions. Still some room for improvement (decide on which forms to apply instead of all forms by default, remove the warning message from the console log when there is no form on the page), but overall very happy I found this alternative and will definitely inform my clients about this. It is time not to rely on Google. But we are finally moving in a direction that better alternatives are popping up that respect user privacy.
